Persuasive Essay Smoking - 995 Words

Over the past years, the number of smokers has been on the rise. In today’s society, they are given the tools to be aware of harmful it can be, yet they still chose to do it. Smoking is a force of habit, it is a choice a person makes either to participate or not but it becomes outrageously addictive. The person choosing to smoke may not realize that they are not just harming themselves but they are also harming the ones surrounded by them. It has a negative effect on the people around the smoker because when the nicotine gets in the air it becomes hard to breathe and it travels amongst people faster than they realize. Smoking should be banned in all public places due to the bad influences, healthier lifestyles, and negative effect on†¦show more content†¦If a woman who is expecting a child is smoking or who has a young child, that child will be in danger of asthma attacks, respiratory infections, and even infant death syndrome. â€Å"Regulations have been laid in the UK parliament which will lead to making smoking in cars carrying children illegal in England,† Secondhand smoke also affects adults, it can result in lung cancer or cardiovascular diseases. A ban on smoking would protect the public from passive smoking. If smoking in public was banned it would promote healthier lifestyles for everyone. Although the smoker is the one choosing to put those harmful chemicals into their body, if a child lives in the house with that person it can become very dangerous for that child. He or she will be more prone to asthma attacks and their immune system will even become weaker. Therefore if smoking was banned, it would promote healthier lifestyles for everyone. Some communities have already put a ban on smoking in public areas.
